the Islanders shorthanded goal was completely a product of Stepan having no strength in his hand, that's why his pass was so weak and easily intercepted for the Islanders to go down and score.
Islanders completely dominated, but, the Rangers got no breaks last night either. The hit posts, Lee's goal bounces off Girardi first then right onto his stick, Kulemin's shot goes in off the post. Brassard's shot misses after hitting the post.
Next time at Coliseum hopefully we get the breaks a bit. |

That is what worries me, that he couldn't play through it. Has to be something somewhat serious. |

yesterday somebody said acquiring a extra center would be a good idea, seems he jinxed us, although i would never be against huberdeau |

the Rangers are horrid at faceoffs as it is, when Marty was taking those draws with Stepan out on the ice, it was definitely a bad sign.
I'd like to see a video of the Matt Martin slash on Stepan.
I think if a Ranger slashed Tavares the Isles would already have had sent the tape to the Pentagon. |

Hank should have had that anyway, the effort looked like they weren't interested, don't understand why they can't get up for a game vs the Isles, we had our chances in the 1st and Brass had a wide open net, no excuse for missing it, we're still a better team just wish they had the emotion to play those mutts |

that's the best I have seen the Islanders look defensively as a team since the Cup years. I got to give them a lot of credit, they are a strong offense team, but they played stifling defensively too, blocking shots, looked similar to Rangers in 2011-12.
The Isles definitely should be considered favorites to get the #1 seed in East. |

not making any excuses, but the team looked tired last night. they played well in the first and then just lost their speed. Islanders played well. would not be surprised if Miller sat(if Steps is healthy). Also, i really didnt like the ending of the game where we had boyle and clutterbuck fighting... a 38 yr old with a broken nose should never be in that situation.
perfect player to get at deadline that would fit most of their needs: a good faceoff center that is big, fast, and fights.... i dont know of any available... |

The first period was really good I thought with both teams back checking extremely well. You could tell the Rags were gassed in the 2nd and 3rd. I want to see both these teams playing at their highest level for 3 periods. That'll be some intense hockey. |

If its the play I think it was, it looked like a typical swat during any hockey game. Just bad luck, Martin is a tough guy but doesn't strike me as a dirty player at all. Clutterbuck on the the other hand is giant (frank)ing wussy. Go after Boyle who has a broken nose, seriously. |

the incident at the end of the game happened because one of the Islanders threw a check at the final buzzer of a 3-0 hockey game as if the puck just dropped. Just another indication that one team went into this game thinking about war and the other thought about mailing it in. |

miller had a few bad plays but IMO he's played solid and created some chances. He's also one of the few on this team that throws his body around a little bit. To me Hags is just there. He's not a good finisher and we've all been waiting for him to take the next step and just hasnt. Good on the PK and can fly but he needs to be able to finish. He has 1 goal in his last 20 games with a goalie in next (2 empty netters in there)

Come on man, they showed up but the islanders just outplayed us. They suffocated us defensively much like we did to many teams during our recent wins. Gotta give the isles credit. When we lose, it's not always because we didn't show up... Sometimes the other team was just better. |

I know some people want to change the team around or add some players after one loss, just remember this is the same team that has been killing it for awhile now. The only thing I would think about adding is a faceoff specialist. |

Yea. It sucks because losing to the islanders with the renewed rivalry and division title implications is worse than losing to say the Blackhawk but it's still a regular season loss. An important regular season loss but not a season-ender. |

I think Boston will be a key sign next game. They are playing a lot better now. I am confident the Rangers will respond the right way. |

if Nash's first period shot goes in, or Brassard's, it is a different night. Not saying we would have won, but sometimes you get bad breaks.
Those pucks have been going in since early december. |

I've been wanting to do this since last year. Come playoff time we need some big body's to bang around in a 7 game series. We lost boyle/pouliot/carcillo/dorsett all guys that wore a team down during a 7 game series. Who is our biggest hitter now? Kreider? Zucc? None of our guys are overly physical and I think to have a deep playoff run you need some of those types of guys. |

I agree. A guy that plays like Glass has an impact in a 7 game series where guys are already banged up from the regular season grind. Crosby was invisible because of our physicality last year. With that said, as long as every player finished their checks, that's as physical as we need to be. |

I definitely see your side of it, but I honestly didn't think it was an issue at all. Ducks, Sharks, Kings are all considered big physical teams and I thought the Rangers speed was more important than being overly physical. I think the most important thing right now is faceoffs. That has got this team in a lot more dicey situations than not being physical enough. Imo |
